Doctrine of Peace

VOLUME ONE - CHAPTER 23

Put away the strange gods, be clean and change your garments. The bricks are fallen down, but we will build, the sycamores are cut down, but we will change to cedars. Arise from the earth, and wash, and anoint, change your apparel, and come into the house of the LORD.

The winter is past, the rain is over and gone, the flowers appear on the earth. For hope sprouts again, and the tender branch thereof will not cease. In whom there is no blemish, well favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such has ability in them to stand in the king's palace.

But who am I, and what are my people that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? Who is able to build him a house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? Who am I then, that I should build him a house, and the people are many, neither is this a work of one day or two?

You are my might and the beginning of my strength; the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. The inhabitants of this land, they have heard that the LORD is among this people, and that the LORD is seen face to face, and stands over them. Go in this, your might, have not I sent you?

I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God, I know not what to do, but our eyes are upon you.

Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do with your might. And for this cause have I raised you up, to show you my power, that my name be declared throughout all the earth. And in your hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand you. Behold, God exalts by his power, and who teaches like him? This is the word of the LORD, not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit: the voice of the LORD is powerful, and full of majesty.

Who engages his heart to approach unto me? Come near, that I may feel you, come near now, and kiss me. Be ready against the third day; come near to the LORD and sanctify yourselves. Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you, come near unto me, and repair the altar of the LORD. Consecrate yourselves unto the LORD, go near and fall upon me that I may feel you. Come near now, and kiss me, pass over and embrace me.

Father let it be known this day that I have done all these things at your word, for as much as the people draw near with their mouth, and with their lips do honor you. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Not I the LORD? Proclaim this among the nations.
